At the NANOCON´24 conference Georg Schitter will give the invited lecture “Charge Measurements in Liquid and Device Characterization up to 90 GHz by AFM-based Techniques“ in the Session E - Advanced Methods of Preparation and Characterization of Nanomaterials.
Personal Background and Education:
Prof. Schitter received an M.Sc. (Electrical Engineering) from the Graz University of Technology, Austria, in 2000 and a M.Sc. (Information Technology) and a Ph.D. in Technical Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in 2004. From 2004-2006 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB).
In 2006 he became Assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, and Associate Professor for Mechatronic Systems in 2009. Since 2010 he holds the Chair for Advanced Mechatronic Systems at TU Wien. He received further offers for faculty positions at the University of Hawaii (2006), University of Waterloo (2006), Universität Ulm (2009) and at ETH Zürich (2013).
Research interests:
Primary research interests of G. Schitter are on high-performance mechatronic systems and multidisciplinary system integration, particularly for precision engineering applications in the high-tech industry, scientific instrumentation, and mechatronic imaging systems that require precise positioning combined with high bandwidths. Application domains of his research are telescope systems, adaptive optics, optical satellite communication, scanning probe microscopy (AFM), scanning laser metrology, robot-based measurements, lidar systems and augmented reality displays for driver assistance, and lithography systems for semiconductor industry.
Summary of publication activity:
He is author and co-author of more than 300 peer-reviewed scientific publications (ORCID ID ), of which 136 have been published in international journals, and he co-authored the textbook “The Design of High-Performance Mechatronics”. He received the journal best paper award of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (2017), of the IFAC Mechatronics (2008-2010), of the Asian Journal of Control (2004-2005), and the 2013 IFAC Mechatronics Young Researcher Award. He served as an Associate Editor for IFAC Mechatronics, Control Engineering Practice, and for the IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics.
